How cool: the XPENG G6 takes the heat off UK drivers this summer

XPENG’s latest Over The Air update includes more than 50 enhancements including customised cooling via the XCOMBO app

With the UK summer delivering record high temperatures, XPENG’s latest Over The Air (OTA) update gives G6 drivers more cool options to stay chilled, as well as connectivity and mindfulness features to help with stress-free holiday motoring.

XPENG’s 5.9.5 update to its XOS system delivers more than 50 smart-cabin and driver assist enhancements, with XCOMBO – its app-controlled automation and short cut system – delivering over 450 customisable scenarios.
The XPENG G6’s AI-powered cockpit is innately occupant-focused. The XCOMBO app’s Summer Essentials collection includes Ultra-Fast Cooling, enabled when the driver enters and temperature is above a set limit, dropping to normal air-conditioning once the G6 has cooled. Summer Remote Car Preparation can be set for specific times on specific days, and an app alert sent to the driver confirming climate control activation when a high temperature is detected. The OTA update elevates this with location-based triggers, allowing the G6’s cooling routine to be matched to the car’s whereabouts. For example, maximum cooling and seat ventilation starts at a particular time, but only if parked in a specific warm street rather than the cooler garage at home. And, for those who don’t want the world to know how refreshing a G6 can be, pre-cooling also now runs in ‘quiet mode’, reducing fan and compressor noise outside the vehicle.

Once the driver is seated XFREEBREATH can be activated, purifying the air and filtering up to 99.9% of pollen and harmful PM 2.5 particles – measuring less than 2.5 micrometres – for clean and safe cabin air in five minutes. Smart Air Circulation and Daily Ventilation can be selected for pre-timed fresh air. The Smart Deodorisation mode opens windows slightly and flushes the cabin in a short burst to remove stale and unpleasant smells.
The G6’s air conditioning is voice controlled independently in both front and rear. A customisable one-touch Rapid Cooling widget can be dragged to the infotainment screen’s main bar, with any combination of cooling routines saved for use as a one-touch button. What’s more, the best customisations can be shared with other G6 drivers, via a QR code or in the XCOMBO app.

XPENG G6 owners enjoying driving holidays – and everyday commutes – benefit from a split infotainment screen now projecting Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ alongside other infotainment or car function screens, with the shortcut bar always available for instant access to important functions. The 2026 update significantly enhance voice commands. Multiple consecutive instructions are now supported, such as “hey XPENG, maximum cooling, open my window slightly, and find me the nearest ice-cream shop.”

If the pressures of a long journey kick in, selecting Passenger Mindfulness Space reclines their front seat, adjusts lighting, and plays meditative tracks if desired. Destination searches now draw on Google data making POIs and street addresses easier to find. “Are we nearly there?” questions are answered by asking “hey XPENG, what’s our ETA?”. Local and global weather forecasts up to 14 days ahead can be requested as well as air quality reports, and personal calendars can be synced with the G6 and accessed by voice command.

A new P-Comfort (Park-Comfort) mode detects occupants remaining inside when the G6 is parked and keeps cooling and infotainment running indefinitely. Child locks can be activated and turned off via voice command from the front seats. Pet Mode ensures safety and comfort when pets are left briefly unattended and it’s safe to do so: doors lock, windows close, and a comfortable temperature and air circulation is regulated, with real-time alerts and control via the app. A message on the central control screen informs passers-by that the pet is safe and monitored.

Even mobile ‘phones are kept cool: the G6 features dual 50 W wireless ‘phone charging pads, with built-in cooling vents to protect devices from overheating during heavy data usage.

XPENG’s 5.9.5 OTA update in summer 2026 delivers more than 50 enhancements to ten modules on G6 cars in the UK, including XCOMBO; Voice Control; Navigation; Connectivity and Infotainment; XPILOT driving assistance, Parking; Safety and Emergencies; Comfort; Charging and Energy; NVH and Vehicle Dynamics.

XPENG Over The Air updates are automatic software upgrades sent remotely to cars, providing XPENG owners with complimentary new features and enhancements depending on supported functions in specific markets.
